Resilience is a powerful thing. Having just the right level persistence and endurance can be a game changer. You’re not going to let anything stop you from reaching your dreams. Being confronted with the impossible won’t stop you. Being told ‘no’ won’t stop you. Here are the women who have had the wisdom to reach a little higher and a little farther than the average person. Their lives and careers are truly making a difference in the world around them.

      1.   Oscars 2016: Angela Bassett Reveals her Hardest to Land Role – Entertainment Weekly

“’Of all the roles that I’ve had in my career, the one that I fought the hardest to get, bar none, 100 percent was Tina Turner,’ the 57-year-old actress reveals in the latest Beyond Beautiful video for Entertainment Weekly. Bassett explained that the creative team behind 1993’s What’s Love Got to Do With It wasn’t sure she could sing, dance, or convincingly portray the legendary R&B star. ‘It was rough and tough but that one role in particular let me know what I was made of,” she continues. ‘That strong stuff. I don’t quit, I fight.’”

            1.  Adele dedicates her Brit Award win to Kesha – Daily Mail

“Kesha just received some support from the biggest star in the recording industry – Adele. The British singer picked up the award for Best British Female Solo Artist at Wednesday night’s BRIT Awards and dedicated her trophy to Kesha. ‘To the other nominees, it’s an honor to be standing amongst you. I’d like to thank my management and record label for embracing the fact that I’m a woman and being encouraged by it,’ said Adele at the start of her speech. The 27-year-old then got a bit choked up as she added; ‘And I would like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.’ Adele is currently the biggest and most profitable artist signed to Sony, the same label that last week won a court battle against Kesha when she tried to leave their artist roster because she claims she was raped and drugged by producer Dr. Luke.”

                  1.  Lady Gaga Delivers Powerful Oscars Performance of ‘Til It Happens to You’ With Survivors of Sexual Assault – Entertainment Tonight Online

“Dressed in all white, Gaga performed “Til It Happens to You” at a large white piano on a dimly lit stage. Towards the end of the performance, she was joined on-stage by a group of sexual assault survivors with various mantras, including “Not Your Fault,” “Unbreakable,” and “Survivor,” written on their arms. The set garnered a standing ovation and moved audience members including Kate Winslet and Rachel McAdams to tears.”

                        1.  Celine Dion Resumes Las Vegas Residency With Tribute to Late Husband – ABC News

“Celine Dion took to the stage Tuesday night in what was her first Las Vegas show since the death of her husband, Rene Angelil, last month. The concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace began with a special tribute to Angelil. After the lights dimmed, a quote from Dion, printed in the program for her husband’s funeral, was displayed: ‘I understood that my career was in a way his masterpiece, his song, his symphony. The idea of living it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realized that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him.’”
